What is Robotic Prostatectomy?

Robotic prostatectomy is the most advanced method in the surgical treatment of prostate cancer. Performed using the da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system, this operation allows the surgeon to work with 3-dimensional and 10x magnified imaging.

Surgical Procedure

• Under general anesthesia, 5-6 small incisions (8mm) are made in the abdominal area.
• The da Vinci robotic arms and 3D camera are inserted through these incisions.
• The surgeon operates at the console with 3-dimensional and magnified imaging.
• The prostate gland is separated from surrounding tissues and removed while preserving the nerves.
• A suture connection is made between the bladder and the urethra.
• The average surgery duration is 2-3 hours. The patient is discharged after 2-3 days.

Who Is It Suitable For?

Robotic prostatectomy is performed on patients diagnosed with localized (organ-confined) prostate cancer who are planned for surgical treatment. The most appropriate treatment method is determined by evaluating the PSA level, Gleason score, and tumor stage.
